2007 / 2008 ASAPC Sponsored Events

We're at the beginning of another exciting year at ASA. This year, the Parent Committee, working with the administration, is going to find great ways to make the partnership between the school and families even stronger. We want everyone to feel in the loop, empowered, and vested in the wonderful community that is ASA.

Here is a directory of events and activities that you will hear about, participate in, or at least pay for! Be sure to check the ASA 2007 / 2008 School Calendar for details.

Cafe Night / Diner Night

These are ASA's version of Talent Shows. The Middle School Assembly sponsors Cafe night, which is a talent show extravaganza! All the students will be working tirelessly on routines to perform, songs to sing, dances to dance. There are always lots of surprises and celebrity guest appearances. It is definitely an event for the entire family, the cousins, the aunts, the uncles. It is also a great place to bring your friends who are considering ASA for their children in the future. This is a place where the kids shine!

Lunch Sales

This year the ASA fundraising committee will be having a weekly student lunch sale on Mondays at 12:15 PM. We will serve from the kitchen windows in Pilgrim Hall, and will offer Subway 6" subs - turkey/cheese or veggie/cheese on wheat or Italian bread - along with a drink, chips and a treat - for $5.00. Subs alone will be available for $4.00. Pizza will also be sold at $2.00 per slice. This will be a WIN - WIN - WIN event - no need to pack a lunch on Mondays - good, healthy food at a fair price - proceeds to benefit our school Arts programs.

Concert Evenings Coffee Hour

How wonderful to enjoy conversation with friends, sip a cup of coffee or cocoa, and then just mosey over to the sanctuary or Pilgrim Hall to hear the lovely results of your child's work at ASA. If you arrive just in time for the music, don't worry - we'll be there after the concert as well!

Dining Any Evening

The Mandala Tearoom, at 7027 East 5th Avenue in Old Town Scottsdale (5th and Goldwater Blvd.) a will give 10% back to ASA any night an ASA family dines at the restaurant.

Holiday Festival and Tax Credit Benefit

Each December, the ASA campus is transformed by sparkling lights, beautiful decorations and wonderful student performances into a wintry festival of the arts!

This is the school's major event where we ask parents to support the ASA Arts Program through the generous Arizona Tax Credit donation plan. Please invite your relatives, friends and neighbors to come and see our amazing students play, sing, act and dance.

Disneyland Turnaround

It's an annual weekender crazy trip to Mickey's park that happens over MLK weekend. There are lots of chaperones. You'll hear more details later.

Presentation Week

OH NO! Presentation is the mama of all school projects at ASA. This year, students will do only one presentation, so it BETTER BE A GOOD ONE!

In the spring, the students will be assigned a topic, do massive research, lots of writing, cutting, gluing, pasting, and practicing from note cards. Then they will present what they know to the teachers and administrators and parents before spring break.

Middle School Socials

High School Assembly plans and produces the events; parents provide support where needed!

Junior / Senior Prom

Yes, there is an ASA Prom, and it's quite a magnificent affair. A committee of students, faculty and parents put it together.

Senior Banquet

A warm, memory-filled evening, this dinner event is a final gathering for our seniors, along with teachers and parents, to celebrate their years together at ASA.

Retreat Day

The annual ASA retreat is held on campus. You'll see team building games, skills, and bonding games.

Showcase

Webster's Dictionary describes it as, "a setting, occasion, or medium for exhibiting something or someone especially in an attractive or favorable aspect". Anyone who has attended an ASA Showcase would have to say it is an amazing night of entertainment.

The ASA staff, students and parents put an incredible amount of time, energy and talent into this "Finale". Be sure to get your tickets as soon as they go on sale. They sell quickly!
