Arizona School for the Arts

Music Department

The ASA music program provides a comprehensive arts education in instrumental and vocal study. The ASA music program has been recognized nationally as a Grammy Enterprise Signature School and has received multiple recognitions from the NAMM Foundation as a Support Music Merit School.

The ASA music program includes study in piano, an instrument, or choir. The music faculty are high caliber professional teaching artists, most with a Masters degree in their specific content area. Through a unique program ASA music students are immersed in curriculum that is designed to develop performance skills and technique, culminating in live performance experiences. Additionally, the curriculum includes master classes, lectures and presentations from local, national, and international guest artists through ASA’s extensive partnership network. Students perform in a variety of settings through out the year demonstrating the artistic skills they have development through their study at ASA.

Students that elect to study an instrument may choose from the following:

  • Strings: Violin, Viola, Cello, or String Bass
  • Band:
    • Woodwind or Brass Instruments
    • Orchestral Percussion program offered starting in 7th grade
  • Classical Guitar

All instrumental and choral class placements are based on individual current skill levels. Students new to ASA at an advanced level may audition for appropriate placement.
