2009-2010 Application Information

Instructions regarding applications for the 2009-2010 school year will be available online beginning in January. For the 2009-2010 school year, you may submit applications either on-line, by FAX, or in person. On-line applications and FAXed applications will be accepted through Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 4:00 PM MST. Paper applications submitted in person to the ASA office will be accpeted Monday, March 2, 2009 and ending Friday, March 6, 2009, at 3 PM MST. Please note there is only a one week window for submitted paper applications in person. IMPORTANT: Mailed in applications will not be accepted.

Applications that are submitted by the deadlines detailed above will receive a lottery number. Applications are processed according to their lottery number. Applications received after the lottery are organized and processed by the day and time received.

All students apply to ASA must take a placement test to be considered for admission. Placement tests for the 2009-2010 will be held on Saturday, March 7th or March 28th from 8-11:30 AM. You may select either testing date. Please email Jamie Bledsoe at jbledsoe@goasa.org or call 602-257-1444 ext 12 to reserve a seat on one of the dates listed above. All applicants will take an academic placement test. All middle school students will complete a vocal audition. High School Drama students will audition with material provided. Any student wishing to be placed above a beginning level Guitar, Band, Strings, or Voice class must audition. Students wishing to audition must bring their instrument and music.

Placement at ASA is based on availability for the student's academic and artistic placement as determined by standardized test scores, placement exams, and arts auditions. Students applying for high school must meet the prerequisites for their arts placement by demonstrating the ability to enter their art choice at an intermediate level. Students applying for 10th-12th grade must have demonstrated an ability to perform college prep curriculum by having completed the appropriate course work in their previous high school classes.
