Arizona School for the ArtsArizona School for the Arts is a non- profit college preparatory/performing arts charter school serving 390 students, grades 6-12, in downtown Phoenix. Beginning in 2009 ASA will be offering 5th grade and an expanded 6th grade program. Founded in 1995, ASA offers a rigorous academic program that consists of core academic studies with a rigorous, diverse, and professionally-driven performing arts program. It is one of the highest performing middle and high schools in Arizona having received state and national recognition. The school offers a free public education to parents and students who seek performing arts instruction and academic excellence. In addition to its own on-campus music conservatory, ASA enjoys longstanding partnerships with two of Arizona's premiere arts organizations - Phoenix Theatre and the School of Ballet Arizona - which provide facilities space, curriculum and faculty for its drama and ballet programs. ASA students enjoy a small safe community which promotes excellence and active participation in the learning process. Quick Facts: ASA has been labeled an "excelling" school since 2003 and was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School, by the US Department of Education in 2005. One hundred percent of ASA sophomores meet or exceeded standards on all portions of the AIMS test on the first attempt and 95% of ASA graduates pursue higher education immediately following high school . Student academic achievements include: Presidential, Flinn, National Merit, and Arizona Community Foundation Scholars. ASA students have also won prestigious competitions including: Prix de Lausanne; Utah Shakespeare Competition, Phoenix Symphony Guild Grand Prize; Phoenix Young Artist, and AriZoni awards. |
